The Best Way To Promote A Website
By: Steve Hill, Thu Jul 12th, 2007
I have over eighty websites and have had an online presence since 1999. I have made a lot of errors over the years in attempting to attract additional traffic to my websites and I have to admit that I have wasted a lot of money in that time. Despite these losses and errors I have also learnt quite a lot about web promotion and web marketing. I mainly concentrate on three of my eighty websites and two of them are a page rank five and the other has a page rank of six. My ultimate goal is own a website which has a page rank of seven. During this article I will be writing about what I believe are the best ways to promote a website.
I am most definitely from the old school of thinking and really believe in the importance of backward links. I am only really interested in obtaining one-way backward links, if however a webmaster offered my a link exchange where I obtained a pr7 link in return for a pr4 link from one of my sites, I would have to consider it!
I have met a lot of people/webmasters during the last eight years and have learnt a great deal off them. I personally believe you need a range of backward links pointing to your site, for example one thousand pr2 links, two thousand pr3 links, two thousand pr4 links, twenty pr5 links, five, pr6 links, two pr7 links and one pr8 link.
If you were able to obtain this amount of links you would be doing very well for yourself. Having for example just five pr6 links is just not natural and they links could well be seen as being paid for. Paid links as most people are aware are frowned upon via the major search engines.
Play by the rules and you are sure to be fine.
