Yahoo And Msn To Role Out Their Own Versions Of Page Rank?

By: Steve Hill, Thu Mar 22nd, 2007

My name is Steve Hill and I have a number of websites. Like I am sure most other webmasters do, I try to promote my own sites in the hope that I will rise up the search engine rankings. When speaking to people about web promotion all I ever seem to be asked is what is the google page rank of your website? This seems to be so important as many of the experts I have spoken to believe that the higher your page rank, the more traffic you will gain. Something I have been thinking about over the last few months is when will yahoo and msn bring out their own versions of page rank? I am sure most of us would also like to see how highly these search engines rate our sites.

For the last three or four years I have been attempting to build up the number of one-way links that I have pointing to my websites. I have mainly achieved this via article marketing and have now written and submitted around five hundred articles. The results have been well worth the effort and I am pleased to be highly ranked in google, yahoo and msn for my main keyword phrases. This shows me that I must be doing something right but seeing that little grey bar is also a big indication. I am always looking out for the next page rank update hoping that my site might be promoted up a notch. Maybe I am a bit sad but I can tell you that there are many more thousands of people who do the same.

Seeing your website increase from say a pr4 to pr5 is a real boost to ones morale and confidence, even though the site may not have actually increased in serps on that day. Google have created a kind of buzz in this way and a constant talking point by creating page rank. So come on msn and yahoo, I would love you to create a similar marker so that I can be looking out for three page rank updates and not just one. As you can see I am addicted to all things page rank!
